Manual control (Water district mode)

Setting the community to "Manual operation" mode#

The community's behaviour is decided when it is created. In the Create Water district wizard there are two steps: Identification and Irrigation Shifts. The choice made in the second step defines how the community will operate.

Steps:

  • Start the flow to create a new community.
  • Complete step 1, Identification, with the community details and continue.
  • In step 2, Irrigation Shifts, you will see three options:

    • Controlled on-demand irrigation (default) — the administrator and managers automate the irrigation shifts from the scheduling panel.
    • Manual operation — irrigators can manually operate the valves of their assigned hydrants, alongside any scheduling carried out by administrators and managers.
    • Irrigation by request and grant — not available at this stage.

Select Manual operation and tap Save Community.

From this point on, any irrigator with a hydrant assigned in this community will be able to open and close the valve whenever the hydrant is in manual mode.

Operating a hydrant assigned to an irrigator#

When a hydrant is linked to an irrigator user, the valve status selectors appear disabled and the following notice is shown on the right-hand side:

Valve managed by the irrigator user. Any associated programs will not be executed. Take control of the valve

To be able to operate the valve, you first need to take control.

Steps to take control and operate:

  • Go to the hydrant's detail view.
  • In the notice on the right-hand side, tap Take control of the valve.
  • The system locks the valve for all other users for 10 minutes and enables the selectors.
  • Perform the action you need:

    • Change the mode: move the selector between Manual and Auto.
    • Open or close the valve: move the selector between Closed and Open.

  • When you are done:

    • Tap Release control to return the hydrant to the irrigator immediately, or
    • Let the 10 minutes elapse and the lock will be released automatically.

While the takeover is in effect, the irrigator will see the valve as locked and will not be able to operate it.

Operating a hydrant with no irrigator assigned#

If the hydrant has no irrigator assigned, the controls on the right-hand side are available directly and there is no need to take control.

Steps:

  • Go to the hydrant's detail view.
  • On the right-hand side, adjust the mode (Manual/Auto) and the status (Open/Closed) as needed.
  • The change is applied immediately to the hardware. The header will show Running while the valve is open.
